My friend Jesse and I are in the middle of making a power plant piece of terrain for the game Warhammer 40,000. This is not going to be just any average piece of Warhammer 40,000 terrain. This piece of Warhammer 40,000 will be functional. It will release fog to make it look like the power plant just exploded. The power company shall be called Jersey Gargoil Power.
Day 1
This is the first step that I have already gone through. I used some files i got from the Games Workshop site about terrain. You can down load them in this zip file. You will need Adobe Reader to view it, but it is downloadable for free. If you want more info about these please go to the website I got these from. After gluing them together I made cuts in them to give them the look as if it had been hit by bombs, or missiles in different areas. For the sake of a realistic look you will have to do this on the floors as well. Anyways if things go according to how I planned, one of these buildings will look like it was once a series of offices associated with Jersey Gargoil Power. The other one will look like it was once the building where the physical laborers who worked at the plant were all the time.
Day 2
The fog machine I intend to use for this finally came in the mail today. We did an experiment with it today. I read somewhere on the web that you can prevent the fog from rising too much by creating a box with two holes in it, filling it with ice then attaching the fog machine to one end of it. It worked. My hope is to use pipes and tubing to create some sort of system where some of the fog will rise and some of it will stay low.
Day 3
I only worked on one building of the power plant today. I made floors and a roof for one of the buildings. it looks very great because it doesn't only give you an idea that a bomb must have hit it but it gives you an idea of what angle the bomb hit it at.
Day 4
Today was a happy day. I did a lot of work on it today. I got a very big start on the pipes system done today. I didn't glue any of the pipes together however I got the center core tank in and hooked it up to an intake pipe and another pipe that will act as a chimney releasing polluted smoke from the power plant.
The smoke in the project is going to do its own thing, that is what the laws of nature and science/chemistry say so I can't argue with it. The problem I'm having however is that most of the smoke is being released on the bottom level. So I plan to put some more pipes on the upper level to make leaks in the pipes and give the upper levels some smoke. I'm also gonna try to use some games workshop barrels and make them release some fog.
Day 5
I really didn't do much at all today. All I did was use some glue to seal up the leaks on the pill bottle on the inside of the building and attach a barrel on the outside that will be made to look like it is leaking oil and smoke is coming out, kind of like an exploded barrel. I didn't do enough work to make it worth while to get some pictures.
