Here are the pictures I took from the August 12th tournament game at the Harvard Square game. The camera I used is a new one I got for my birthday just last month so you are gonna see a lot of pictures that are either blurry or have other problems. I didn't take time to edit out the bad ones. But there are some good ones in it as well.

My army is a basic Space Marine army except it has a Cobra symbol on their banners. I'm thinking of changing it to a picture of me though.
Terrain
Lately I have been doing a lot of terrain building and painting. First I discovered making woods terrain like the one you see on the right. I also made terrain pieces using the little kits of pieces you can get at Games Workshop. After a while of this I discovered something cool. By accident I not only spilled some of there P.V.A. Glue on my desk and but I left it the drying overnight (that is what happens when I stay up till around 3:00 AM working on this stuff). Anyway when the glue finished drying I was able to peel it off my desk like a sticker not only had it become clear when it dried but it also kept the form/shape of a puddle. So I painted it black and held it next to one of the mini barrels you can get from Games Workshop and it looked like a oil spill. I later cut one of those barrels in half in a diagonal way and glued it to the base with some model glue. After that I poured some P.V.A. Glue on it next to the barrel and let it dry overnight. The next day I painted the dried up glue puddle black and this is what I got.
I’m working on a piece of terrain that will be really cool. It is gonna be really difficult. My intension is to build some sort of chemical/powerplant kind of building that looks like it has some pretty severe damage from the war. Im writing a complete webpage about the making of this one piece. I decided the power company shall be called Jersey Gargoil Power.
Terrain Building Download Files
When designing a new piece of terrain the first things you should do it look for pictures off the web of anything similar to the thing you are trying to build. It is best to look into real life images not picuters of models you want to re-create. This makes it more unique and you can call it your own artwork. Some pieces might even require measurements and geometrical measurments done in advance. Here are some files I got off the web the really help me speed up this part.

| These are good if you just want to make a simple multiple floor piece of terrain. I used them in the design of Jersey Gargoil Power. A little piece of advice. The best way to use these is to make cuts in them to make them look like they got damadged in the war. Otherwise you will have to figure out position and size for things like doors. | |
| I got these from the Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook. There are instructions in the Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook if you need help. I got these pattern from there as well but I changed it a bit so you won't have to make multiple copies of the same page in order to buid one of it. It is a bunker that not only serves as a piece of terrain but it also serves as a place that your figures can go into. | |
| Here are a series of doors you can put on the building for the sake of looks. | |
| This is a lot of cut out paatern you can use to make almost an entire medieval village out of. But if you give it the look of damadge to it then it will blend in with the game of Warhammer 40,000. It comes with a instruction manual about how to put this together and ge good looks. | |
| If you are making a building intended to look like some sort of religious structure this is a good file for you. It is a series of patterns made to look like windows you would expect to see on a cathedral. These patterns take time to cut out of whatever material you are making it out of but in the end it is really worth it. This comes in the form of a PDF file but I would suggest you use Adobe Illustaror when working with it. |
Terrain I’m Working On
Jersey Gargoil PowerMy friend Jesse and I are in the middle of making a power plant piece of terrain for the game Warhammer 40,000. This is not going to be just any average piece of Warhammer 40,000 terrain. This piece of Warhammer 40,000 will be functional. It will release fog to make it look like the power plant just exploded. The power company shall be called Jersey Gargoil Power.
Day 1
This is the first step that I have already gone through. I used some files i got from the Games Workshop site about terrain. You can down load them in this zip file. You will need Adobe Reader to view it, but it is downloadable for free. If you want more info about these please go to the website I got these from. After gluing them together I made cuts in them to give them the look as if it had been hit by bombs, or missiles in different areas. For the sake of a realistic look you will have to do this on the floors as well. Anyways if things go according to how I planned, one of these buildings will look like it was once a series of offices associated with Jersey Gargoil Power. The other one will look like it was once the building where the physical laborers who worked at the plant were all the time.
Day 2
The fog machine I intend to use for this finally came in the mail today. We did an experiment with it today. I read somewhere on the web that you can prevent the fog from rising too much by creating a box with two holes in it, filling it with ice then attaching the fog machine to one end of it. It worked. My hope is to use pipes and tubing to create some sort of system where some of the fog will rise and some of it will stay low.
Day 3
I only worked on one building of the power plant today. I made floors and a roof for one of the buildings. it looks very great because it doesn't only give you an idea that a bomb must have hit it but it gives you an idea of what angle the bomb hit it at.
Day 4
Today was a happy day. I did a lot of work on it today. I got a very big start on the pipes system done today. I didn't glue any of the pipes together however I got the center core tank in and hooked it up to an intake pipe and another pipe that will act as a chimney releasing polluted smoke from the power plant.
The smoke in the project is going to do its own thing, that is what the laws of nature and science/chemistry say so I can't argue with it. The problem I'm having however is that most of the smoke is being released on the bottom level. So I plan to put some more pipes on the upper level to make leaks in the pipes and give the upper levels some smoke. I'm also gonna try to use some games workshop barrels and make them release some fog.
Day 5
I really didn't do much at all today. All I did was use some glue to seal up the leaks on the pill bottle on the inside of the building and attach a barrel on the outside that will be made to look like it is leaking oil and smoke is coming out, kind of like an exploded barrel. I didn't do enough work to make it worth while to get some pictures.
My Ideas For Future Terrain Pieces
I have seen many rivers, ponds, swamps, and pices of water of any kind in the world of tabletop game terrain. However the only ones Ive seen are made of clear solid materials made to look like water. I have also seen many boards with rivers going through the middle of the board. My plan is to make a river with a small pump that runs real water on it.
Ever since I started working on the powerplant I had all sort of other terrain pieces that could release fog. So one of my ideas for the future is to build a Warhammer 40,000 table that will have multiple areas where the fog can be released.
If anyone has ideas on ways i can carry out these ideas please drop me an Email.
Here are some links to site that are good to refer to for more info and ideas for tabletop war game terrain.
of course.

Warhammer Fantasy Roster. This is a roster sheet I put together myself. I based it on a few that I found downloadable from other websites. I even made some changes myself and it makes assembling an army much easier for me. I put it in PDF format and Excel format for those who might want to make some changes. If you are running it on a Mac you might have some trouble reading the Excel format files. Due to this people using makes might have trouble making changes to it. If you face this problem don't Email me, there is nothing I can do.
